Yes, I know things have really gone up over the years, I have been a number of times before.

Around 90K (GBP) is still good though, no?

Depends on how much you've got left after tax and what it buys you.

Sure, but seeing as a Doctor/Specialist earns around £113K, the top paying profession, I'm sure you would be pretty OK on £90K

And the taxes are lower, but you may want to read this. Looks like New Zealand is taking a page out of Mrs May's playbook.

The changes include raising the income threshold to be classed as a skilled migrant to nearly NZ$50,000 (£27,500) a year, classifying anyone earning NZ$73,000 and above as high-skilled and restricting work visas to low-skilled workers to three years, after which a mandatory stand-down period will be enforced before workers can re-apply.
Seeing as the roles in my skill set pays over double that, they have a true shortage of the skills and the company sponsors the required visa, the article isn't of particular interest.

In addition, the full taxation in NZ is unlikely to be far less, once you have taken all taxes into account.

Anyone know where the development (analysis/design/coding) work is outside of London?

I'm on the job boards and I'm not seeing anything...

Manchester, Leeds, Bristol. Not a lot of it, though.

Depends what you specialise in - .net and there is loads all over the country, java less so

There are a lot less applications for contracts nationwide than the London ones, a good way to gauge this is to go on reed.co.uk and filter by contract for keywords for example .net and it shows you how many apps per job advert there are

I've been what you would call a full stack .Net developer for a number of years but for the last year (when I've been in contract) I've been working exclusively with different Javascript frameworks (Angular 2, VueJs). I haven't written a single line of c# code in all that time. All Typescript.

I don't know if this is a good thing but since I've fallen into this kind of technology, I'm hoping it will make me slightly more niche than a bog standard .net dev. On the other hand, I guess after being out of the Microsoft stack for a while will put me out of the running for the many .net gigs that may or may not be out there. Who knows.....
