I suspect it will bite people in the backside one day.

Ironically, it seems to be going on across multiple threads at the same time...

        who????

I've been ignoring that willy-wagger for months. He won't care as he's on £6000 a day with 5 customers all at once (or summat)

Well this is all still pretty tulip.

I've been searching for 3 months, I've had a few leads, a few interviews but nothing yet. I have even been having a few calls on the burner (but nowhere near enough!).

War chest is OK, so I'm not in dire straits yet, but still getting annoyed with it all but know I have to keep on with the job search.

But it occurs to me that July and particularly Aug are probably going to be a dead loss, since business is usually dead anyway! Isn't the normal year business bounce in Sep?

Anyone any (hopefully a little upbeat) theories about the short term? I guess once inflation actually starts to drop (supposed to be by the year-end) the interest rate increases should stop (even though there is supposed to be a monetary lag). So maybe business confidence and stocks might be up in the autumn if they are forward-looking.

Half wondering about scaling down the job search over Jul, Aug and heading off to hotter climes.

Personally I'd write July / Aug off as summer hols and pick it up again in Sept. Also not so sure about inflation dropping, employment is going up, so if salaries starting moving up as well, then you'll most likely see price increases (cause people can afford it) and I doubt anyone in their right mind will start lowering interest rates.

I would bail now and just make sure you have a good internet connection available take a laptop, headset, decent work shirt, slacks, socks and shoes. You can get an interview at any time.

This tulip-show could last until next April so plan your finances accordingly.

Why you be needing slacks and shoes for an interview?

I'm a programmer. I went to my first job dot com interview last century in shirt and tie, and the door was opened by a guy in a sarong. I took my tie off and everyone was laughing. I got the job.

But I'll definitely a take a decent headset and maybe a polo shirt when I'm on my holibobs and check the jobsites less frequently.

There is not a single scenario that I can think of that would bring a positive light to the entire situation. I would sell car, house or any possessions as well and reconsider life in a place with lower cost of living / better quality of life / better climate. Do only remote roles where you can consider lower pay, return only when necessary (high paying contract). Do not hold assets that can be hard to offload (house, car, furniture etc)

There is no point earning 110k in the uk if you can barely raise your children, it is just indentured servitude with few extra steps.

                      this guy gets it.
