Of all the chancellors since 2010, I'd say that less than half had anywhere near that level of expertise but I don't recall you complaining about them.

Even so, ministers don't have to be experts in the area they're responsible for, they always have experts to advise them.
Rishi Sunak could run rings round her as Chancellor....she is so far out of her depth it is embarrassing to watch!!

Doesn't matter if they have experts or not to advise them ....she can't walk the walk or talk to the talk...she lacks gravitas on all fronts...

He managed to swing the system in his and his family's favour though

And vindictive, excluding Ltd company directors from Covid support packages as a 'policy decision'.

Not to say that the current Government have done everything right, because the partial u-turn on the Winter Fuel Allowance today demonstrates they haven't, but anything approaching a tough decision that might effect electoral chances has been dodged for about 10 years before they got in (I didn't agree with austerity but it was a hard choice).

I just think we all need to realise that the Chinas and Indias of this world have emerged and what their piece of the pie and the west needs to adjust. We can't keep borrowing and kicking the can down the road so we either need to cut expenditure or raise taxes.

Problem is no one is ever happy when it involves them and we have become beholden to a generation of retired people who actually turn up and vote.

If people think Reform are the answer, then you really don't want to know the question.

I much prefer a government that's willing to adjust when it realises it hasn't got something quite right, instead of dogmatically insisting they can't be wrong (a la Maggie Thatcher). I see it as a sign of intelligent capability and pragmatism, not weakness.

I don't know WTF is going on but this is really weird.

I posted elsewhere about the market and my frustrations at the professionalism of agents, but this one takes the biscuit and I'm still trying to fathom out what's going on.

Most of last week I was trying to speak to an agent who left a voicemail and when I tried calling him back, the call was never answered. So, some back and forth messages on LinkedIn and we'd speak the following day, but that just didn't happen. Until today....

So, the call goes OK but it's a non-starter as 2 days on site and the commute is hellish, at over 2 hours each way, probably well over.

Then, just now, I had another call regarding another contract. Wow, just like buses, two come along at once. Oddly, this guy has the same first name as the one earlier (didn't get his surname), but it's not the same guy, totally different voice. Upshot is that can I ping him my CV. No problem, I'm awaiting his email so I can reply but there's nothing. Meanwhile I notice in LinkedIn that I have a new message, so I go back to it and it's the chat I was having with the first guy, posting his email address that just so happens to be the company that the second guy works for!!!!!! Why would two different people be using the same LinkedIn profile?

                  Exactly.

People and entities that don't adjust their opinions and actions when new data presents itself are idiots.
Special opprobrium for those who think changing thier mind when the the facts change is a sign of weakness, and the willfully ingnorant.

No idea, but it rings all sorts of alarm bells.
