Thanks for that useful link - when going through screening for my current role I also was asked to provide statements with regards to 'gaps in employment'. However, the agency was not satisfied with this alone, and also requested I provided 'proof' such as a letter from the NHS that I was caring for elderly parents. Needless to say they got pretty short shrift from me on that point.

Additionally found this guide to Media Screening which is an interesting read and be aware of:

Yes normal in finance, I had to provide personal references as well for each gap. Next time I will apply for JSA as that is accepted to fill the gap

Doing the same thing for my new gig with 'The Bank'
"why ride a vespa when you can push a lambretta?"

As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see "the River Tiber foaming with much blood."

How would a bank statement show whether you had been in jail or not?

I was asked for council tax statement from 3 years previously. Getting that was fun.

A friend had a great idea - scan in all your bills. I must start doing that.....

I always flat out refuse to submit any bank account statements, whether personal or business. It's none of their F****** business. It's never been an issue. Gaps are usually substantiated by way of emails confirming contract applications/interviews, etc. Even then who wants to expose their inner core to these losers (the banks)? It should be us performing the checks on that bunch of criminals.

The criminals have all the money. Personally I prefer to sell my soul to the devil.
