    Notice Period

    Hi All,

Last year I had a contract with a company. After a few days I told the boss I could not work with person x and the boss told me 'the only thing he can do here is end the agreement' and I will be paid for what I have done (which was a few days).

My contract states that I would be given 4 weeks notice which obviously I wasn't,

Do I have a case to seek 4 weeks of my day rate?

    Thanks all

You could have been given notice but you didn't do any work. Your contract will state you get paid upon receipt of a signed timesheet. No timesheet, no pay so the same as instant termination.

So the answer is not a chance.

IMO you not being able to carry out your duties as a professional contractor would meet the terms for instant dismissal under the non performance element of the contract as well. You entered in to a contract, you can't do it so you're gone.... but most clients don't think this way.

Thinking you can get 4 weeks free money for welching on a gig is just.... mehhhhhhh

You weren't given notice, you quit and they did you a favour by not asking you to work your contracted notice period

I want my account deleted and all of my information removed, I want to invoke my right to be forgotten.

So, you approached them to terminate the contract.

No, because you terminated the contract and they were good enough not to force you to work your 4 week notice period.

Bearing in mind the he's potentially in breach of his contract I'm surprised the agent isn't going to sue him. He can kiss any money from this gig goodbye though.....

Very unprofessional, count yourself lucky they're paying you anything IMO.

Out of interest, why? Bad enough to name and shame?

You've got to be kidding right.. Naming and shaming client staff. Why on earth would you do that???

Looking at the OPs posts he's in no position to be doing this even if it wasn't a stupid thing to do.

                  Name and shame himself.

I'm more curious as to why they felt that they couldn't work with someone else.

Ahhh, got admit I'd be vaguely interested as well but have a feeling it might be a tad biased towards one party
