Showing the tickets does not ensure that he/she is not join the mob for 3 months.
I think that was addressed earlier in the thread, i.e. it proves absolutely nothing, but is an unnecessary pre-requisite.

Also, he regularly complains about carp rates etc. which are unusual in Finance, maybe he should engage an agency to negotiate a good rate for him .
Oh hang on, he's a "real" contractor, he doesn't use one

              which is clearly utter nonsense.

As for dealing with a personal matter..... yes, that's a difficult one, and certainly would be painful you to have to justify to an agent/client.

On the other hand, agents/clients receive a ton of CV's for any given role.

I can absolutely see why they'd want to know why you haven't been in work for a year. Prison? rubbish and couldn't get a job? Hmm, I like this one, they seem really switched on, but I'm worried about the 6 months off. Shall we look for some kind of confirmation first before interviewing? or will we just bin them straight off the bat?

The alternative is to interview absolutely everyone who applies, which is not viable.

I'm not sure what the best solution is, and don't get me wrong, I feel for anyone in that situation.

It could have been me last year in fact. I had 2 weeks off my contract due to being in a car crash. Luckily they were great with me.
