I don't see any problem to ask for the criminal records, not only for who had time off, but for all , especially for Financial Industry. I can understand that.

If the agency, and problably de client, will check the criminal records, why they need to talk about the time off in the interview if it's detailed in CV, instead concentrate what is more important, the skills!!!! I'm sorry to insist but it doesn't make sense to me.

Is like " You CV is very good but...."

We have, obviously, worked at different places, then.

Not just "Finance" how many IBs have you worked in, in recent years?

As I said earlier, in this instance, you are being a muppet who just not know what they are talking about.

Love people commenting with some authority despite having never been through these screening processes.

I've been through screening processes a few times and have been directly and through agencies to IBs. I've never had to account for gaps beyond stating that I was looking for a new contract and signing a declaration to that end. If that's changed now (since June!) and they want you to prove it, then there are some serious privacy issues. It may be a level of risk around a particular person? Who knows, but I must admit that I am concerned about how they expect us to prove certain things. That said, as MMM said, it's the industry with the highest earnings for me and I accept the engagement model that goes with it. Similarly I accept the engagement model in other industries where they expect you to interview on the Thursday, sort the contract out on the Friday and start on the Monday.

Finally, someone else who has actually had a contract with one, LondonManc aside.

Except for Old Bolshie as his cojones are bigger than anyone else, he would refuse etc. no bending over, he's a "real" contractor, we are all fakes..... blah, bloody, blah, blah.....

Also, he regularly complains about carp rates etc. which are unusual in Finance, maybe he should engage an agency to negotiate a good rate for him .
Oh hang on, he's a "real" contractor, he doesn't use one

                    Taking the original post.

If a contractor needs to prove a break showing the travel tickets?
Showing the tickets does not ensure that he/she is not join the mob for 3 months.

What if it was 3 months in Syria?
