I think that was addressed earlier in the thread, i.e. it proves absolutely nothing, but is an unnecessary pre-requisite.The Chunt of Chunts. -

These might help you.Originally posted by MrMarkyMark View PostFinally, someone else who has actually had a contract with one, LondonManc aside.
Except for Old Bolshie as his cojones are bigger than anyone else, he would refuse etc. no bending over, he's a "real" contractor, we are all fakes..... blah, bloody, blah, blah.....
Also, he regularly complains about carp rates etc. which are unusual in Finance, maybe he should engage an agency to negotiate a good rate for him
.
Oh hang on, he's a "real" contractor, he doesn't use one

that specific "drivel" you quoted, was in response to Bee saying:Originally posted by SueEllen View PostSo it is their business that you spent a few months with your terminal mother/father/child/grandparent/whatever or you yourself were fighting a fatal illness?
I don't think so.
which is clearly utter nonsense.Originally posted by Bee View Post
It sounds an excuse to know personal information.
As for dealing with a personal matter..... yes, that's a difficult one, and certainly would be painful you to have to justify to an agent/client.
On the other hand, agents/clients receive a ton of CV's for any given role.
I can absolutely see why they'd want to know why you haven't been in work for a year. Prison? rubbish and couldn't get a job? Hmm, I like this one, they seem really switched on, but I'm worried about the 6 months off. Shall we look for some kind of confirmation first before interviewing? or will we just bin them straight off the bat?
The alternative is to interview absolutely everyone who applies, which is not viable.
I'm not sure what the best solution is, and don't get me wrong, I feel for anyone in that situation.
It could have been me last year in fact. I had 2 weeks off my contract due to being in a car crash. Luckily they were great with me.Last edited by jmo21; 26 November 2015, 12:59.Comment
