Follow it up by email and in writing that you are giving notice under the terms of the contract, then at least you have a papertrail
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Were you limited? Were you talking to yourself?

One of the reasons I talk to myself is to get an intelligent conversation where the other person is nice to me.

If I wanted abuse I would "talk" to my ex.

So, as a result of a meeting you chose to leave. Permies in the office have been told that you chose to leave.

What advice are you looking for? Do you want to know if you can sue? Do you want to know how to get over it and move on?

You weren't dismissed, permies get dismissed. Temporary staff/contractors have their contracts terminated.
You went in to a meeting to have your contract terminated and your contract was terminated.

Where do I stand legally as iv been dismissed for trying to hand in my notice, is that allowed? As a contractor do I have any rights here?

              Go back.
              Chin him.
              You will feel much better.

You have the right to moan and be annoyed. That's about it.
As for remaining silent; interesting way to handle it, I'd have given the tuliphead a piece of my mind, loudly enough for his staff to understand what a tosser he was, before walking calmly and ever-so-cooly out the door.

He should have recorded the conversation. And played it back to his now ex colleague

Though they can give you notice at any time and may not have to give you any work, surely they cannot terminate the contract without invoking the notice period unless you have violated some aspect of it?

Just "firing you" on the spot for trying to give notice isn't valid.

                    What does your agent say?

It doesn't matter a bean. He's been tulip-canned and that's the end of it.

Potentially he can hit the agency for notice pay, depends on the terms.
