    CWJOBS New"Privacy" Policy

    Yikes.

    Amongst other things:
    Collection of Personal Information

We collect personal information from you (for example, name, address, telephone number, email address, photo etc) when you make an application, complete registration forms, submit comments to the Site, participate in message boards, blogs or any other user generated content facilities or send emails to us. We may also extract relevant personal information from other data that you provide, for example, from your CV. Please do not submit such personal information to us if you do not wish us to collect it.

We may also collect personal information which we have found from other websites that display information about you publically. For example, social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, your online profile on your current employer’s network, any articles about you or any public listing of your profile.

Ditto. They are part of the Totaljobs group so might be worth checking their other sites for the same policy?

I had this from Jobsite, I am in 2 minds about closing my account as I have had some of my more interesting discussions with agents as a result of appearing in a jobsite search...

Create a distinct email address, change your name to "The Applicant".

Account closed, when I did it this popped up:

By closing your account, you won't be able to access your account information, application history and you'll need to open a new account to apply. Your information will also be removed from other Totaljobs Group Ltd websites.

I can't help wondering if all the other sites do this without telling us as its in the public domain or just an aggressive approach by CW?

Um.. If you have an account and you give them your name (or some other piece of information) as part of the registration process, then clearly they are "collecting information about you".

Surely this is the same for each and every website on the internet that you have to "register" with? You're asked for X in a textbox. You provide X. They store X in a database, therefore, they've "collected X about you".

This doesn't seem like anything to be concerned about, especially for a job board that you're using to actively seek paying work?

                  What am I missing?

Depends on the lifestyle you lead. I wouldn't like my annual bongo bongo parties connected with my professional life for example, there would be too much demand.
