We collect personal information from you (for example, name, address, telephone number, email address, photo etc) when you make an application, complete registration forms, submit comments to the Site, participate in message boards, blogs or any other user generated content facilities or send emails to us. We may also extract relevant personal information from other data that you provide, for example, from your CV. Please do not submit such personal information to us if you do not wish us to collect it.

We may also collect personal information which we have found from other websites that display information about you publically. For example, social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, your online profile on your current employer’s network, any articles about you or any public listing of your profile.

To be fair, reading it it looks like they only collect what you send or have listed publicly (spelt correctly ) anyway..

But you'd never give CWJOBS the information relating to your annual bongo bongo parties, surely? Or details of any of your other online identities that advertise/are linked to your bongo bongo parties?

Still not getting what's the big deal here...

I wouldn't worry some recent former student will soon sue them (or whatever) for linking a Facebook/Twitter account of someone else with the same name, similar dob and lives in the same town who likes wild partying/is openly offensive to their job search account.

The only way they will get round it is by saying you have to explicitly give the link.

Um.. If you have an account and you give them your name (or some other piece of information) as part of the registration process, then clearly they are "collecting information about you".

Surely this is the same for each and every website on the internet that you have to "register" with? You're asked for X in a textbox. You provide X. They store X in a database, therefore, they've "collected X about you".

This doesn't seem like anything to be concerned about, especially for a job board that you're using to actively seek paying work?

    What am I missing?

I can't help wondering if all the other sites do this without telling us as its in the public domain or just an aggressive approach by CW?

Account closed, when I did it this popped up:

By closing your account, you won't be able to access your account information, application history and you'll need to open a new account to apply. Your information will also be removed from other Totaljobs Group Ltd websites.

Create a distinct email address, change your name to "The Applicant".
