being paid less than permanent staff! What would you do?

    Yup - thats correct!
I have been at my current assignment well past the 2 year rule (4 years in fact!)

It has recently came to light that the full time employees are actually on more than I am.
Even after calculations, I am still a lot lot worse off.

AFAIK I have not signed the opt-out for Workers Regulation thingy & I was wondering what to do...

I have constantly asked for an increase in rate through the agency, but never gets anywhere.

Do I have any rights under the agency workers regulation?

I dont really want to give up the contract - but I think its coming to a point where I will have to.

    Any other advice?

You clearly have much more patience than 99% of us here. As for advices, I'd guess you're extending your existing contract. So the next time extension discussions come around tell the agency your new daily rate is xxx, else sod off. Be prepared to leave though, your word and threats are nothing if you cannot back them up with actions. The contractor way offers much more flexibility and power over your own professional life, but you must be willing to use it. Perhaps being a contractor is not your cup of tea?

This is quite common in Switzerland? But then, you wouldn't be subject to the two year rule, nor the AWR if you were working there.

      Doesn't sound right to me?
I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).

So, you've regularly asked for a rate increase and got none but stayed 4 years. Does this not tell you the agent has your number!?
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

The fact you don't understand the workers regs probably means you are on the right rate.....

Thats it.. I dont understand the working regs ins & outs. I was kinda wondering - as I have not signed an official opt-out from the 2010 if I have any kind of negotiating from it - or maybe the opportunity to stir a hornet's nest.

I need to contract to keep me on my toes, otherwise I just end up being lazy B*****d.
Kinda limited in roles due to my lack of not bothering to do certs & ending up pigeon holing myself.
Also, contracts in my part of the world are quite rare & would be a PITFA to even think about uprooting - especially as my partner has a good job & have not discussed it with her.

Well, I did get a rate rise a few months back, but nowhere near what I wanted (I wanted 25% - they gave me 5%).

As I have said, I dont really want to give up the contract - but I am certainly not extending now I know some (not all) are getting more than me.

Ask to go permie. You don't want to leave and you'll be better off.

                permmy isnt an option -
                1) 2x permmys left & only 1 was replaced.. with another contractor - dunno his rate yet!
We was told the ones that left wasn't being replaced. But they did bring in the other contractor.
                2) I dont want to go permmy for the customer in question

If you want a substantially better rate contract or permie you're going to have to leave. Just my general experience.
                  I'm alright Jack

Leave . In my last gig the client and pimp thought they held all the cards and were surprised when I said "leave it " to their take it or leave it offer . After some time off I'm on a better rate. As others have said you should probably go permie
