The Australian Trade Deal, not the one-way pathetic deal with the UK but the Australian-NZ-EU deal to be signed this week which will encompass freedom for Australians-NY to live and work in the EU and vv. Just think, Australians and New Zealanders will have more rights than Brits in the EU. Never mind, there is still the magical US deal.

Notably, if the UK was still in the EU it would be advantages for IT contractors to work at short notice in ausie.

I still live in hope that one day we may get this. No more EES, visas crap and the ability to retire in the EU without proving this, that and the other and jumping through all manner of hoops.

Obviously fat chance of that if Farage's lot ever get in.

In a perverse way, it might be better if airports/ferry terminals don't suspend EES checks over the summer. Everyone queuing for 5-6 hours and utter chaos might focus the minds on both sides of the channel. It might even persuade some diehard brexiteers to compromise a bit.

Given the umpteen millions of Brits who travel to the EU, it's bloody stupid (of our Government and the EU) that we've ended up in this mess.

If I was Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt etc, I'd be looking to capitalise on this.

As observed elsewhere, the EES was originally envisioned with the UK in the EU, and would have worked quite well. Brexit threw a spanner in the works.

The claim from the madder brexiteers that the EU is deliberately making things difficult for the UK is simple deflection from their own culpability.
