You might be ok now the outbound Xmas/New Year rush is over. From what I hear it's only a TSS if lots of full planes arrive around the same time. -
EU press release today:

"EU Commission: New Entry System on Schedule"
Meanwhile, also from today...

"The European Commission has rejected claims that the EES is broadly responsible for long queues at airports."
https://www.eeas.europa.eu/delegatio...nals_en?s=3225
"A new digital border management system – the Entry/Exit System – is now in force to make travelling to Europe easier and more efficient. It will enhance the security of the EU’s borders, which will also benefit our partners, including the UK."
One day, maybe...

My family and cohort of mates are just back from France, absolutely no issues with EES delays.
Clearing immigration and customs took a minute or two.
This was a mixture of London City airport and the channel tunnel.
We weren't part of the percentage that are subjected to the biometrics however. Not looking forward to that.Comment

Arrived at TFS on Wednesday last week, around 2 PM. ESS was off and the old passport scanners were on. Landing, pisspot control and baggage in total took about 30 mins, and that included an extra trip to a different baggage area for an outsize item. When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

As an aside, you can't even avoid EES going to Gibraltar because they're now part of Schengen.
Moreover, even though it's a British territory, we can only stay there for the 90/180 days.Comment

Inclined to agree. Have been there once as a cruise stopped there. I almost didn't bother going ashore and wasn't massively impressed when I did.Originally posted by Uncle Albert View Post

"Videos posted on social media in the past week describe three-hour queues at Geneva airport's passport control."
"Long waits have been reported at Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, too."

I suspect many airports will end up turning the machines off in July and August to avoid absolute chaos. Although if I was travelling over the summer, I think I'd avoid the Schengen area altogether just in case.Comment
