Anyone been delayed entering the EU due to passport stamping? (2nd attempt)

Lanzarote started doing this in June, and there have been long queues at the airport getting in and out. Some people have even missed their flights home.

Apparently finger printing and facial scanning are due to come in on 10 Nov, which should make it even more "fun". Then visas from next May.

Italy have been doing it for over a year. But if you miss your flight home, it's not a delay entering the EU, it's an inability on your side to arrive at the airport in time. Tourists from other third countries around the world seem to be able to do it, why are the English ones unable to?

Tour operators not prepared to pay the overtime to Reps for shepherding their customers for extended periods, so get them to the airport with the minimum time to spare?

End of holiday tourists are of no interest to companies, they are much more interested in the start of holiday ones who still have money in their pockets.

And yes, I've been delayed entering the EU. Queuing behind all these British drivers at the Channel Tunnel, Folkestone, who need to have their passports stamped.

Lanzarote airport seems to be having a particular problem at the moment, apparently due to insufficient staffing. The country's representative has raised the issue in the Spanish Parliament.

If reports are to be believed, people have turned up 2 hours before departure but have still not made it through passport control in time.

We're going there in a couple of weeks, and keeping our fingers crossed that it's not too bad.

Technically ETIAS is from 1st Jan 25, but discretionary enforcement for the first 180 days.

Should be an "interesting experience" flying to Spanish holiday destinations next year.

I don't know what the Brit numbers are for Malaga, Alicante and Majorca, but nearly half the visitors to Lanzarote are from the UK.

Oh dear.

I was in Mallorca in May and it wasn't an issue, and been to Italy for both work and pleasure several times without it being a major problem. I guess if it reduces the number of lager louts going, then the locals will be happier, and prices will be lower for those who think school holiday trips are too dear.

The levels of tourism and the onslaught of AirBnB is pricing locals out of housing and driving prices up.
Brits will claim this is locals complaining about their only source of income, but if the workers can't afford to live, then something has to give.
