From the main article you lacked the intelligence to open.

    Northern Ireland Protocol - Wikipedia

    Initial EU Backstop proposal
The European Union proposed a "backstop agreement" within the withdrawal agreement that would only be activated if no better terms could be agreed. The protocol would require that Northern Ireland continue to operate those elements of the European Single Market and the European Union Customs Union necessary to obviate the need for evident border checks. The UK government regarded the idea of having EU rules applying to Northern Ireland only (and not to Great Britain) as a threat to the integrity of the United Kingdom, and consequently proposed that the arrangement would apply to the entire United Kingdom, until such time as a solution to the border problem can be found. As there is no time limit or mechanism for unilateral withdrawal, a large faction of the Conservative Party (UK) is concerned lest the UK as a whole be subject indefinitely to the EU rules and so voted against ratification of the draft.

Please admit you are wrong. Oh okay, keep being a tedious cretin like normal then....

No-one is ready for no-deal’ Brexit in industry, government or the EU, warns CBI

No problem there will be a section in the no deal information pack as to how to declare bankruptcy in an orderly fashion.

        This thread is confusing.

Yesterday all the remainers were banging on about Boris spending some money to prepare for a no deal brexit.

And today the remainders are posting about how no one is prepared for a no deal brexit.

So either spend the money or shut the fook up.

        Dense mellon farmers.

        Jeezus.

The two statements are not mutually exclusive. Boris spending money to prepare has an element of future tense in it - that he's starting the process. "...no one is prepared" refers to the current situation. How things are now. The question is whether Boris' preparations will be in any way effective . Boris can continue to spend money like water for the next 3 months, but that's no guarantee whatsoever that anyone will be prepared on exit day.

tl;dr Even with Boris' spending, come 31st October it might still be true that no-one is prepared.

EU know Boris is just bluffing on no deal

EUROPEAN leaders are working on the assumption Boris Johnson is bluffing with his threat of a no deal Brexit scenario
Oh dear, looks like the 100 million bluff isn't working.

Additional to the question of whether the spending is effective, is the question of whether it is proportionate for a one in a million probability event.

This doesn't look any different to Theresa May's government, tough talk up until the deadline and then cave.

Maybe. The difference is that Johnson is a fool and Cummings is a maniac.

Add further, that Boris spending as much as he likes on a one in a million event is only part of the equation.

Should businesses also spend money preparing for no deal? How much of their profits should they spend? How many employee’s bonuses are linked to company EBITDA, and therefore at risk if the company spends money on a one in a million event that never happens?

Crashing out isn't the end game. If they crash out the government will almost certainly have to fight an election amidst a "reversible" chaos.
