Once the UK is out of the way the EU will be able to dictate the UK's tax rates.

The irony is if the UK had stayed it could have got an opt out or blocked the proposals.
    I'm alright Jack

So once we are out of the EU they will be setting the values for the likes of income tax and value added tax etc that we in the UK pay?

      Or do you mean duties?

That's nothing to do with the Lisbon Treaty.

Mordac made a claim, I've asked for it to be backed up with evidence. So far both links you have provided have not been evidence.
Your latest link doesn't mention 2020.

Whatever is decided by the EU commission, so sayeth the withdrawal agreement, and yes no taxes are excluded.

The EU can't make such decisions until 29th March as the UK will block them, but after that the UK is the EU's oyster.

              Am I missing something.

So once we leave the EU they say here is a list of what taxes you should charge...

and we agree to do that because?

Will America get a say in our taxes? how about China - or will it just be a free for all?

The UK agrees to do it because they are grovelling for a withdrawal agreement.

You are perfectly correct in assuming that this is demeaning as for the first time in British history laws will be shoved down the UK's throat without prior consultation even as far reaching as determining UK tax rates.

It's what Cameron warned about i.e. laws arriving by fax from Brussels and it is what you voted for !

                enjoy!

Oh ok - how does Brussels expect to be able to enforce them?

I think rather like a Mafia protection racket the EU won't screw the UK so hard that they'll simply crash out without a deal, they'll carefully tighten the thumbscrews so it is painful but worth putting up with. The withdrawal agreement is simply an offer the UK can't refuse.

Do you want hauliers to go out of business tomorrow and food to disappear from the supermarkets will sum up the motivation for putting up with it.
