    Honda to close UK factory

Honda closure: 'Swindon factory to close' - 3,500 jobs at risk | UK | News | Express.co.uk

Nothing to do with Brexit, only GM, Ford, Nissan, Jaguar Landrover and Honda are shutting down manufacturing facilities.
    I'm alright Jack

That's not nice for the workers or their families.

Unfortunately though it's playing out exactly as the Brexit economist Minford said that it would, running down manufacturing and especially the car industry. He's got one forecast right.

Workers from legacy manufacturing sectors will retrain in the careers of the future, like jam-making.

Exactly, it was what all sensible people warned for, but ironically it's mostly working class and lowly educated people who voted for brexit and it's them who will now sit at home for a very long time.

He did say the heavily subsidised industries would suffer. So, remember next time you buy a car made in the UK/EU you are paying a tax to keep those industries in the UK. You are also likely paying a tax to encourage them not to relocate to a cheaper part of the EU.

Good news is cars should be cheaper to buy.

For Honda, that depends on the FTA we negotiate with them.

To lose one plant in an industry is careless, to lose several is disastrous. Even ignoring Brexit - let's assume that the reason being given is diesel sales - if this were to happen in normal times there should be a national inquiry to investigate how so many manufacturers got it so wrong.
