Since you are clearly barely monolingual, you probably don't understand that having English as your second language does not preclude fluency in English.

Here's what the NMC say concerning English ability.

You must have English as a first language, or have been trained and examined in English (and qualified), or must have an IELTS score of at least 7. That maps to a CEFT score on the boundary of C1/C2. To put that in perspective - to teach a language, you have to be at C2 level in Europe if you're not a native speaker of that language.

Oh goody, so why do so many people say "I couldn't understand the nurse/doctor?"

You know that is when they join the register and is a fairly recent requirement? From memory imposed after a German locum Doctor spoke such poor English he was credited with killing a patient.

      From my original point.

        Because they were from Liverpool?

I could go with that, although possibly might want to include such areas as Newcastle and Birmingham too. Purely on the grounds of diversity and inclusion.

How many of those are talking about? Exactly.

You're still an idiot for thinking that if someone speaks English as a second language it means that they can't speak English properly. Which point you've not even attempted to address.

So they should be able to afford to comfortably buy a house near their hospital in central London then. Oh, wait.

Why take just pay, without looking at the cost of living in places too? Totally imbalanced argument; it's like suggesting £3.1bn per year is a great corporate revenue without knowing what the costs are.

In civilised countries, nurses are offered accomodation near the hospital as part of the package

I always thought of Nursing as a vocation, not a job!

The problem is that not enough people get the calling.
