AFAIK general elections come round regularly when people can vote - and no you don't get to have another one straight after if it didn't go your way.

You can have as many referendums as you want. After the referendum in 1975, the Labour party policy in 1980 was to simply reverse the first referendum and pull the UK out of the EU, and then not long after that the "Referendum party " was started. Quebec had two referendums for independence. Absolutely nothing undemocratic about it. The fact is "Vote Leave" cheated their way to a very narrow victory so they're trying to shut down the second referendum because they know they'll lose hands down.

Nope the stay campaign tried to cheat with its government backed propaganda and fear mongering, fortunately we weren't daft enough to fall for it With a 2nd referendum we'd still vote out because we want out of the EU political, legal, financial and every thing else union, if it was just a trade block then it might be OK but it isn't A 2nd referendum would be a constitutional disaster because both sides are too entrenched in their opinion to accept the vote going against them and anyway we've already had the vote and we voted leave The EU is destined to wither and die in ignominy anyway, the fractures are already apparent

General elections are pretty pointless as all the main parties select candidates from the same small demographic and background. Lots of posh liberal elite completely out of touch with the vast majority of the population.

So at election time the population have no real choice which anywhere near reflects their views.

The liberal elite win whatever happens.

That is impossible in the British parliamentary system. A future parliament could just enact a new referendum, overriding any prior restriction.

However, you are rather missing the point, Alexei. If the British people are allowed a second referendum, how will they ever learn?
