General elections are pretty pointless as all the main parties select candidates from the same small demographic and background. Lots of posh liberal elite completely out of touch with the vast majority of the population.

So at election time the population have no real choice which anywhere near reflects their views.

The liberal elite win whatever happens.

You can have as many referendums as you want. After the referendum in 1975, the Labour party policy in 1980 was to simply reverse the first referendum and pull the UK out of the EU, and then not long after that the "Referendum party " was started. Quebec had two referendums for independence. Absolutely nothing undemocratic about it. The fact is "Vote Leave" cheated their way to a very narrow victory so they're trying to shut down the second referendum because they know they'll lose hands down.
