The EU will enjoy long light evenings well into the Winter. The UK of course won't be able to follow suit to demonstrate that they're not being pushed around by Brussels.

The EU currently has a rule which requires that member states adopt a twice yearly clock change in and out of summer time.

The proposal (for ratification by the European Parliament) is actually to remove that rule, and thereby leaving it up to member states to decide for themselves whether or not to adopt a twice yearly clock change.

If the EU moves to permanent summertime, they will almost certainly miss their global warming targets by quite a lot.
