Theresa May has 10 days to resolve the issue of the Irish border if she wants to make a Brexit breakthrough at a key summit next month, Donald Tusk warned today.

Never going to happen, unless the UK joins the CU.

Divorce bill is just money, doesn't matter if it's 10bn or 100bn. Citizen's rights can be easily reciprocated (although May has actually given away more than I thought was reasonable, by accepting ECJ decisions over EU citizens in the U.K.) . Ireland will not be resolved unless the U.K. commits to joining the CU and accepts EU regulations and ECJ jurisdiction.

Unfortunately, that's not the message coming from Downing Street (hence the City of Culture being removed). So we're ****ed. Inertia from HMG means we're losing agencies left and right. Backtrack now and HMG look like dicks, because they are woefully underprepared and have no cohesion on what they actually want. So they double down. We're heading for a very hard Brexit.

Offer those that want to live in the UK £100K incentive each. Would cost about £100bn if 1/2 decide to move here rather than become citizens of Ireland and the EU.

I think the big problem has been (and to a degree still is ) the arrogance and ignorance of most of the ministers in the govt. To think that Davies actually said the EU agencies did not have to leave the UK and that was open for negotiation just shows how deluded they are. We can only hope that as the reality of the trade position starts to hit them next year, they'll ever so slowly come to the conclusion that the EEA option is the only realistic option for Brexit. Let's just hope too much damage is not done before the penny finally drops.
