Ah, the cost to the rest of the UK for Scottish independance now, is it?

Guess we will / would just get shafted whether Scotland stayed or left

Probably yes, there are a whole bunch of hypotheticals here; but yes I would imagine we could help if we could.

I reckon theres a bigger probability of the whole UK economy collapsing and needing IMF help than there is of a successful hard Brexit.
The former would suit me nicely.
Maybe we should start getting all these rich companies to pay some taxes?

Onerous terms and they'll fook orf taking the country's talent with them.
Besides isn't May's plan to reduce taxes?

An ageing country of 60 odd million in decline, of which only about a third have any disposable income is not an attractive market.

I think, even you, are beginning to see the problem. Just try thinking a few steps ahead

We can squeeze them a bit tighter for a few more drops of tax I've no doubt.

So basically, what you are saying, is that what ever happens we are fooked?

                  You tell me

                  Circles cannot be squared.

If you want successful hard Brexit, the country needs to have one or more of

                  (1) huge reserves of cash
                  (2) indigenous-owned manufacturing industry making suffiecient goods to trade with other countries
                  (3) have a currency which is a reserve currency
                  (4) be a huge market

                  None applies.

At the moment we make our living primarily by selling services into the US and EU.
With a small percentage of goods also sent primarily to the EU and US.

                  HTH, BIDI.

F88k em. They have more to lose than us.
Funny, the Germans are saying the same thing. EU cave in gathers pace.

And we buy more goods from the EU than they do from us. Wasn't the cost of tariffs about £8bn in our favour?

Still, if their four freedoms are more important than their workers having jobs then so be it.
