A Brexit type event never happened before either.

Yes because the Uk govt. can stop the trend towards jobs that require a higher level of cogntive skill

Yes well lets have a hard Brexit and they'll be flocking towards Greece
    Hard Brexit now!

Investment in UK Fintechs drops after Brexit

So whilst global investment in Fintech is growing international investors are avoiding the UK.

      .......DOOOM ...
Fintechs are a case in point of the type of job where only the top 20% of the population can cope.

Where do you think all those people coming over from the e.u. go: to work or sign on?
No, people will come to do a job and then leave. That's what trade is about.

Where does this sense of entitlement to be able to move wherever you want to come from? It's pure Blairites arrogance.

And if no one wants to come here then why the near record immigration?

Thank Margaret Thatcher for that, she was an architect of the Maastricht Treaty. John Major just signed it.

          I'm alright Jack

            From that article on Fintechs:

            https://www.finextra.com/newsarticle...ech-investment

A quarterly survey of fintech investment trends by KPMG and CBInsights backed up the gloomy assessment. Their just-released Q3 report shows that the UK saw decreases in both the number of deals and total investment in the quarter, while the German fintech sector is now on track to outperform the UK this year
So thx to Brexit Germany is slowly taking over as the leader in Fintech, presumably in anticipation of banks moving their operations to the EU.

Anyway most of this discussion is moot.
We're most probably going to have a soft Brexit where we pay to access the single market, with movement of labour (a bit like Switzerland now), not movement of people.
Anything else would have been economic suicide.
But a certain damage has been done already to the UK's political and economic reputation, due to idiots like Johnson.

Totally agree, Peter Hitchens has it spot on, the UK will move from being half in the EU to half-out. The changes will be mainly negative, i.e. not much change in migration, supermarkets will be more expensive, like in Switzerland or Norway, it will be somewhat harder to do business in the EU, jobs in the CIty will migrate into the EU. UK cities will get generally dirtier and run down due to a permanent state of austerity, somewhat reminiscent of "Oceania" where the ministry of "Brexit" wiill constantly proclaim new potential trade deals that get mired in incredibly complicated negotiations, whilst cutting public services and encouraging the unemployed to take up jobs on the fruit farms.

It will however be great fun on CUK.

                  Because they get to stay.
