    PCG Membership - Clarification

    Hi,

Myself and my spouse are director of limited company. We just started it new where I am working as IT contractor and my spouse is just a Director and Shareholder and does not generate income to the company.

While adding membership in PCG, it asks me the following.

    1. Are you sole trader or LLP or Partnership ? or One Limited company

Believe I should choose limited company

    2. It asks me how many freelancers should be covered. Since my wife is not working anywhere, I reckon it should be one.

The worry I had is that if anything happens to my company in the future, I was having doubt whether PCG would help me since myself and my wife are both directors whereas I have selected the membership only for myself.

Let me know on the same.

    Regards
    Sam

Why don't you call them and ask them

      1. You're a Ltd company, obviously.
      2. Most of the issues you want the PCG to cover you for are personal tax related (e.g. IR35) therefore you only need them to cover you. Having other shareholders in YourCo should not affect your cover in any way but if you really want to be sure, as Clare says, why not ring them?

Take out single membership. If things change, you can always update it during the year. And go for Plus.

Or call them; the membership team are pretty nice to talk to...

Wow, you want to embark on potentially risky income shifting and don't even understand your own business set up? Great start that.

I didn't know that the PCG forums were free these days (open to non-members, that is...)

They're not; members only, I'm afraid.

Hint: Tarbie occasionally talks much sense. But only occasionally....
