I'm glad the EBT'ers are getting organised. The only way to fight HMRC is in numbers.
The NTRT campaign got nowhere. Lobbying is useless - unless you go for the f4j route. No appetite for that round here.
The only way is a legal fight. We are lucky that WG has not cleared off abroad.
All that NTRT can do is give moral support. And moral support is way better done on a closed forum.Comment

NTRT are no longer engaged in lobbying.
Since George tipped us off about his reduced settlement a year ago, all our efforts have been 100% on the legal side. That's why we obtained the Anne Redston QC opinion to gauge the strength of the new legal argument. As you all know, she rated it as greater than 75% in a tribunal. And she's a tribunal judge for god sake.
If that doesn't worry HMRC then they're dumber than I thought.
Personally I don't think HMRC have ever had any intention of settling. Issuing APNs before the Huitson FTT has even handed down a judgment is a clear signal that the time for talking has probably passed.
Onwards and upwards my friends.Comment

Message from NTRT
APNs
HMRC are up to their bully boy tactics by issuing APNs when they know they do not apply.
More will be explained in the next newsletter.
Joining Fee
We are raising the minimum to £300.
We feel this is only fair to our existing members, many of whom have generously donated several times this amount over the last couple of years.Comment

Originally posted by eek View PostQuick question, how do you appeal an APN when its issued in cases that don't apply? Is it just by judicial review or are there cheaper methods...
1) the pre-conditions for issuing an APN have not been satisfied (notifiable arrangement and open enquiry/assessment etc)
2) the figures are wrong
HMRC get to decide.
After that, JR is the only recourse.Last edited by DonkeyRhubarb; 20 February 2015, 11:32.Comment

First of all I don't recall there being a vote between all MTM clients to make NTRT custodians of all things regarding section 58.
Anyone who wants to discuss there impending bankrupcy and get comfort / advice from people in the same postion must:
1. Pay for that privilege or give up there dignity and beg for free membership
2. Surrender there anonimity to a bunch of strangers
If anybody wants to go off and discuss elsewhere; by all means do so but this forums must remain exactly where it is.
I am not taking anything away from the NTRT group, but not everybody will agree with there strategy and actions.Comment
