You have to wonder what people accept without question.

Most lemmings are not even aware of the proposal. Start a campaign on Facebook and it will soon go viral. make sure you include the link to the petition and voila!

The real pressure though, is people actually engaging with their MP over the proposal. Just getting an e-petition debated in the Commons (where it is going to be debated anyhow) guarantees next to nothing.

The people and the government need to see and accept that the increasing draconian powers that HMRC are seeking are dangerous and damaging. They first need to get their own house in order before attacking the rest of us. A department that makes >5m serious mistakes every single year without improvement seriously needs to be unravelled and put back together properly. HMRC is not fit for purpose.

I have never engaged with 'schemes' of any sort so I don't have any worries over this aspect but the very principle of retro taxation scares me to death. If the government are able to engineer it so that the principle is accepted, they could apply it to all avenues of life and that is unacceptable.

Must say I'm enjoying how quiet things are at the moment. Is it the calm before the storm?

Any news on the NTRT campaign it's been a while since the last update?

There's plenty going on behind the scenes and a newsletter will be coming out in the next 2 weeks.

I think the next big thing is the WG trial?

7th Sep. Liverpool Crown Court. I have tried to find a relative to attend - but no luck so far. I have no idea how long it is due to last and when the verdict is due. Or even if it is a trial by jury.
