I campletely agree with OnYourBikeGB above.

As I have said many times, when it's all said and done, this Finance Bill 2014 will be remembered as a huge "WTF were they thinking?!" episode, and a colossal waste of taxpayer's money (to wage war on taxpayers)

We hear that more than one at HMRC dreads the advent of APNs, and as a matter of fact, they themselves made a strong point in their response to the ConDoc, putting forward their sheer inability to cope with the volume (it is safe to say that it was ignored like everyone else's response).

The impression that one gets is truly that of an autistic Minister hell bent of getting his legislation implemented (through lies and deception if need be) without listening to any rational argument from outside his bubble, and without any counterpower to rein him in. Eerie.

      Hi All,

Thought it would be best to put a short post up, understandably there is a lot of tension at the moment. Please don't direct it at Tiger Aspect, anyone that has had a chance to meet with the director or speak with us in length will understand that our intention is to give those who have been affected by retrospective tax a chance to have their voices heard, and put it in the context of IR35. I will happily answer any questions people may have, but preferably not on a public forum.

      Many Thanks.

Did I read that right - that even HMRC have reservations about APNs? That in itself is a farcical prelude to the farce that is about to unfold.

Absolutely - but just to reassure you... their reservations have nothing to do with concern for the rule of law, or other such petty philosophical concepts.
I think it's just fear of things, like, you know...having to work, and stuff.

How about making a few pledges on a public forum that you will treat people who appear on your program fairly and with dignity?

From the telephone calls and face to face meeting I've so far had this would certainly be the case.

We've heard the same thing from senior HMRC officers.

This has all the ingredients for an omnishambles.

It's not the level of work - it's that they're understaffed and underpaid. Their top people leave for that reason and go to the Big 4 firms, leaving the rest to do even more work for less pay. Then they can't cope with the number of taxpayers which means that they have to make blanket assumptions about everyone and get as aggressive as possible to avoid heavy criticism, demoralising them even further. This shambolic mess will probably tip them over the edge. If I was one of them, I'd me making far more of a fuss to Dork.
