Meeting with the PM
Yes, it's true - I am meeting with DC in early April. Not before the budget statement unfortunately, but at least I'll have my 15 minutes of fame with him shortly afterwards. I'll be flying solo as Whitehouse advise that might be the most appropriate, rather than turning up mob handed. They are preparing a bespoke briefing for me. I'll try and keep it civil but any mention of HMRC tends to release the red mist!
Amongst other things, I will be taking a copy of his reply to my letter whilst he was in opposition, which vehemently opposed the retrospective element of S58.Comment

He's finally come out of the woodwork
The Government needs to learn to love our wealth creators - Telegraph
"And equally, why do we sneer at multinationals that take their accountants’ advice and pay the minimum legal amount of tax. Businesses are, after all, supposed to make a profit. They have their own responsibilities."
Too true!

It does take guts but at the end of the day MPs are no different to anyone else - they have a job to do - which above all else is to represent their constituents. In my experience, if someone has taken the trouble to take time off work and to meet with them they will want to understand exactly what it is that you need to talk to them about.
The key here is to get as many people as possible in front of their MP telling the message in their own words. The MP may feel that there is not so much they can do personally other than passing information on. However, some of these MPs may be on the Finance Bill Committee which will be appointed in April. There they will every opportunity to make a difference. Finally, the FB comes back to the main chamber of HoC for discussion. They will recall your meeting and may well act supportively in support of their constituent(s).
You have nothing to lose here. Collectively, by getting in front of perhaps half of the HoC we have every opportunity to get to where we want to go.
Thank you TalkingCheese and Emigre for your guidance and encouragement. It's much appreciated. It feels more daunting than going for a job interview but I'm glad I've finally bitten the bullet and got my appointment. I think if I can put myself in there then anyone can!Comment
