Unfortunately my MP hasn't the backbone to even respond to my letters and emails lately.

I was disappointed that we only got 5 minutesn to debate Nigel Mill's new clause 4 and its a shame there was not a division. What a shame that David Gauke trotted out the old Treasury line once again. We will try to raise the issue again on the floor of the House in Monday and Tuesday's debates at the Report Stage of the Bill.
Again, to balance expectations, it is very possible that we will get an airing in the Report Stage in the full House. However, as has been said before, if that is allowed to go to a vote and we lose, game over. At this time, we still do not have Government (aka Gauke) support for a review or any change, and so it would probably be too high a risk to allow any discussion to go to the vote next week.
Yes, we would all like to get it sorted now. However, this is a campaign that will be made up of several battles. We need to win the key battles to ensure that we are victorious in the war. The more times we can be uphill with the sun behind us the better.
We will be achieving a lot simply by getting our situation aired in the full house. It would be that point that all the constituency MPs that everyone has been writing to and meeting will have their say. They will suddenly realise that a few weeks ago they had one or more constituents in their sugery complaining about something that is now being discussed in the chamber. It should be their opportunity to be seen to be supporting a constituent. Anything that any of us has said to their MP could be regurgitated.
No one said this would be quick. It could be but it is very unlikely. It is simply the way that Whitehall works.Join the No To Retro Tax Campaign Now

If HMRC/Treasury are counting on Labour to support S58 they can forget it.Comment

Originally posted by smalldog View PostHi escape, he is also my MP and has been remarkably quiet for someone so against retro tax. Ive now prodded him twice with zero response, might have to go camp out on St Leonards to make my point!!
With the Report Stage going down on Monday & Tuesday next week, I am going to persevere this week regardless. I'm interested to know exactly which MPs are going to turn up for this reading. I would assume most. I guess we've got to, as part of 'NTRT-Windsor & Maidenhead Branch' a) determine if our man will be there or b)stress why he should be there.
The other option might be to see if he's pally with any other MPs that might already be engaged or supportive of our case. What luck if he was 'southern pals' with Jacob Rees-Mogg. What a result that would be. However this link might suggest otherwise... YouGov | Opigram | Adam Afriyie (Public Figure)
Actually the click to JRM's profile makes for interesting reading. He's obviously well connected.
Have you considered a personal meeting yourself?Last edited by the great escape; 28 June 2012, 10:40.Comment

As a few people are having problems arranging a meeting with their MP's (including me), would it be possible for Whitehouse to knock up something which would get their attention, or could they even contact our MPs on our behalf?Comment

My MP has not responded to my recent 3 letters (since sending me the standard Gauke response from Lin Homer).
He has no problem spamming me with urgent issues such as 'road closures' and litter.Comment
