Does anyone have any idea how HMRC are getting on setting up their separate unit to make us bankrupt? How long do we have until they start sending letters (which I know can be appealed)?

Ooops, thanks. Missed that post. It was actually quite entertaining, well JRM was. Posh, funny and didn't take himself too seriously. When asked what he would do if he were chancellor he said something like "It would not be appropriate for one such as myself who is so new to the house to aspire to such high office but I'm sure that my colleagues on the front bench can advise the chancellor and that debate such as this guide his thinking." I think he was suggesting a top rate of tax of 36% at that point.

There's no way the HoL can interfer with this Bill.
        WHS. Sad but true.

            Important Message

If this has also happened to you please think seriously about breaking silence and coming forward as others have already done.
            • Enquiry opened into a tax year
            • Enquiry subsequently closed with no amendment (nothing further to pay)

If you don't want to approach NTRT, then contact Tony or Dawn at Montpelier.

            Thanks
            DR

              HMRC Really Are Sh1te

It's official - and there's a website by way of testament:
              HMRC Is Sh1te

Apologies if this has been referenced before - I've just spotted it and thought it might provide some light relief.

EDIT: Some kind of anti-profanity filtering prevented me from posting the original URL so I've modified it as above. To get to the site I was attempting to link to, change the 1 (one) in the URL above to an 'i' (the letter 'eye').

                  missing something

I must be missing something and not understanding the process.

So, we lobbyed for a change to the finance bill, this was rejected. The finance bill reading will not have mention of this rejected change so unsure if anything to do with S58 will be discussed and if it is not sure how much importance it will be given as it was not included.

So where do we go from here? It would be very useful to know the next steps at a very high level and potential timeline, appreciating things can obviously change.

                    +1

It would be nice if montp were to update us (and send a request along the lines DR outlined). Sadly I think we have more chance of HMRC being honest than montp communicating.
