    Legal Opinion

I think this is a great Idea, lets get some money together and get a legal opinion on what can be printed and then go for it. I'm in for a few hundred pounds. I think instead of people talking about offering money lets open a bank account publish the details and let people transfer money into it.

It's the only way we will ever get this going, and hey if there isn't enough for an advert lets meet up and have a good party.

      An opportunity

In light of the Barclays crackdown, the Treasury Committee is going to be looking at the issue of retrospective tax.

Why not drop them an email about Section 58 Finance Act 2008.

Make it personal. If you are facing bankruptcy and/or losing your home, say so.

Point out that HMRC are demanding 7 year's retrospective interest as well as tax.

That’s good news and a brilliant opportunity!!

I’ll be sending a letter off as soon as I have time to put something together – unless anyone has something they’ve ready put together with all the essential facts summarised that they don’t mind others using?

No biggie if not as I should have some free time next week!

Put it in your own words. And forget the detail. Keep it short and to the point.

Better they get inundated with poorly written emails than a load of duplicates.

And in case you needed any motivation...

                  1) Montpelier have heard from a couple of clients, who spoke to HMRC, that HMRC are getting ready to send out 3000 tax demands in the next 4 weeks.

                  2) I have also heard that HMRC are planning to set up a dedicated unit in DMB, just for the scheme, to deal with enforcement/collection.

So what are Montpelier going to do about this? Surely they just can't close our appeals? What about the Tax tribunals?

Come on Montpelier another update please!
