I am also thinking about going LTD moving from using a Umbrella company and these online accountancy firms are a lot cheaper than what I got quoted for locally. My local accountant wants approx. £135 per month maybe a bit less!

Hi, same question about Churchill Knight - seems that a hassle-free limited company is the best option for maximising income but has anyone used them in particular?
Thanks!Comment

As has been said many times before on this forum (and possibly already on this thread), you should not choose your accountant based on their fee.Comment

This has been a really good thread, but I am still no closer to deciding:
I have the following left:
- Brookson - sounds great, but the giirl has been pestering me almost every other day
- Dunbro - first guy I spoke to was great and spent over an hour on phone with me
- Nixon williams, but heard some bad things too
- General accountants from receommendation - expensive and just not convinced
I really want someone who is online and aware of online, Brookson have an iphone app which might make things easier, they are around £125 a month, Nixon are £75 but I never think cheap is good.
Any final comments?Comment

Personally I would avoid the old MSC operators, these are the guys who turned into "accountants" overnight, I have heard some stories about what they do. I use Nixon Williams and have not great service from them, not sure what bad things you have heard.
I wouldn't say £75 is cheap, although I would say £125 is excessive."The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." CiceroComment

Any final comments?£75+VAT which is cheaper but not cheapest... Primus are only £60 for comparison.

I think it was the lack of a personal service, I am new to contracting and am looking for someone who is going to ensure I get things right first time!
Think it will be Nixon WilliamsComment

I think Nixon Williams is a good choice, they advise you if you have done something wrong, offer a more complete service, reviewing your paperwork, claims etc."The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. Building a great relationship with your accountant is one of the key ingredients to helping you succeed through your Limited company. Consider having you own designated accountant who can meet you in any major city, face to face and whenever you need.Comment
