First contract might find me in India so online important - anyone had experience of Brookson?

Struggling to decide between Brookson, Danbro, IN Touch or Nixon Williams

Need to set something up early next week - any final thoughts?
Nixxon Williams are excellent - Just moved from Uptons to them

I would go local. The normal contractor accountants that frequent these boards have never added value, particularly when it comes to tax planning. And I've used 3 of them, including the expensive, award winning one...

I switched from Caunce to Qdos Consulting and saved myself a tidy packet in the process.... Qdos are excellent with regards to both customer service & price imo.

p.s. And they also actually came good, twice, on their promise to pay for referrals unlike one of the big accounts who I also referred two people to and they never got in touch with me.

More expensive doesn't mean they'll pay out either, insurance companies are all the same when it comes to wriggling out......... so might as well pay less to be shafted imo

Besides, the chances of a claim are pretty remote anyway, regardless of how much you pay. Does anyone know of anyone, or has anyone here, had a claim made against them?

Not only that they just make some random comment on this board. I recently found few posts containing incorrect information and just random comments.

I recently took over a client from on of the contractor specialist accountant, I found numerous errors, no BIK reported on directors loan on to P11D, other benefits incorrectly reported on P11D, client paid incorrect tax on outstanding DLA (too much), accounting period was wrong (generally first period is longer than 12 months, so it was on second year, they just changed the last two digit of the year, so second year accounts were done for longer than 12 months! and some revenue were taxed twice!)

But on the same time there is no guarantee that local accountant would do good job. So I suggest go and see atleast 3 accountants, try and get a recommendation from friend and family. See wether you feel comfortable, check their technical knowledge by asking some questions. then consider the fees.

                Hiya,

I had an insurance from QDoS in the past but I never saw an accountancy service from them. Do you have a link where we can find more information? How much do they charge per month?

Not sure they do accountancy - they are just insurance I think.

Just worried about using Qdos and finding myself in trouble, especially as it looks I might find myself in India for a few months.

                    Cloud Accountancy

Anyone has used "Cloud Accountancy"? I've seen their Ad in a few sites for contractors and at less than half the price (£50+VAT) than SJD, thinking about giving them a go...
