We'd certainly negotiate fees for a new client coming from another firm who's already paid them for part year etc.

If they've already passed a year end for which they've paid someone else and they want us to do it instead, we'll agree a heavily discounted fee as a one-off just to cover our costs.

If they've had their previous year end done and are, say, half way through the next year, we'd probably just go with monthly fee from that point in time onwards and not charge anything for the period since the last year end.

We don't have fixed rules on this - we look at the client's circumstances and hope to offer a sensible solution which works for both client and ourselves.

I also received a letter to inform me of the increase!!! One thing not clear to me in the letter is that in the paragraph about the new price it mentions 2 free months as part of a 12 month contract. Does this mean if you start now, you are tied in for 12 months or can you leave at any time? It does also say in their pamphlet that there are no tie-ins or exit fees, but I just want to be sure. My intention is to move on in one or two months time.

        Thanks, James.

I moved from my company to Parasol in January because I wasn't doing enough work to justify paying an accountant every month. However I now suddenly and unexpectedly find myself with 3-6 months of continuous work, so I'm in the process of starting a new company with Crunch. They charge £60+VAT per month. (Apparently I'm not allowed to link to their site.)

                It's hard to believe...

Don't know how they expect to get away with it.

I fell out with them months ago and joined - all I can say is that they are a real breath of fresh air and can highly recommend them

                Cheers

As an outsider looking in- what do you look for from an accountant?
