    Oracle DBA

(Offtopic and a bit cheeky but I hope you will forgive me.)

A mate of mine, who was in the scheme, has just lost his contract. They have let all the contractors go where he was working, and have outsourced the work to India.

If anyone knows of any vacancies for Oracle DBAs, ideally within commutable distance of Oxford, send me a PM or email me at [email protected].

This guy is very experienced and I have worked with him on a number of big projects.

    Thanks for your help!
    DR

There is no way that HMRC would have consulted the JCHR. I don't even believe that they obtained a legal opinion. After all, why risking asking a question if you might not like the answer?
Had an update from Jeremy Hunt and he appears to be taking a keen interest in this matter and responding extremely quickly

"I have had a response from Mark Egan, Commons Clerk for JCHR, confirming that the Committee is currently considering how to deal with this issue. He assures me that he will let me know how it decides to proceed and I will, of course, pass any further information on as soon as hear.

Once again, many thanks for getting in touch with me on this subject. I will follow developments closely."

this all seems very promising.. although we've been here before and had our hopes dashed. I know nothing about the JCHR, but if it has more labour bums on seats than other parties, it will probably go the same way as the treasury committee 'debate' for want of a better word.. sorry but i wont feel we have a real chance until the scottish junta in westminster is sent packing ..

Even though I instigated this, I share your scepticism. It is hard these days not to be even more cynical about politicians with their "do as I say, not as I do" arrogance and hypocrisy.

I remember in the debate Jane Kennedy saying her conscience was clear about introducing this retrospective tax. Knowing what we know now, the words "politician" and "conscience" don't sit very comfortably together.

I hope this committee decide to do the right thing but I won't be surprised if they sidestep it.

also from the above it seems only 2 labour members attended the last meeting, then again, human rights isn't really labours 'forte' is it?
