From the Data Protection Officer.
Unfortunately the "Data Protection Officer" didn't deem that my data was worth protected so put a huge amount of paperwork into a flimsly jiffy bag. Guess what happened next?
Yip, that's right. It was open when it arrived via Royal Mail with a lovely clear plastic wrapped around it with an apology from the Royal Mail.
I'm absolutely livid that my personal tax affairs were treated like this and left on show to the world, not to mention the concerns I have over identity theft !
Should I complain to HMRC or will that just stir up crap I don't want stirred up?
What did you ask them for, i hardly got anythingWhen is comes to the HMRC and Gordy. Im a fighternot a lover

How do you get on with your MP? Worth complaining via him/her?Comment

David Cameron
Just heard from someone in his constituency that Cameron has written to the JCHR calling for a review of S58.
This should add some weight to all the other MPs who have approached the committee. Hopefully, it should make it more difficult for the Treasury to try and scupper it.Comment

In the FOI response it was made very clear that there was no admission whether JCHR had or had not been consulted. The wording was such that I got the impression that HMRC relied on their own solicitor's 'learned' opinion.

There is no way that HMRC would have consulted the JCHR. I don't even believe that they obtained a legal opinion. After all, why risking asking a question if you might not like the answer?Comment
