He then **said** to the effect, "And if the goverment goes down that road this becomes an issue of violation of human rights."

It seems the retrospective aspect is held by almost everyone that talks about it other than Labour to be immoral, injust and ultimately a violation of human rights.

This doesnt mean much, but its still good to hear peoples opinion end on an issue of human rights when retrospective laws are mentioned.
This story seems to have made it's way onto the website now:

Looks like they consider retrospection to be a 'potty' idea !!

which is interesting for us as the publicity question has always been poo poo'd by a lot of people on the grounds the public will side with the government cos we are all fat cat greedy contractors. Well maybe not, if Fred can get opinion on his side with the hint of sinister retrospective legislation I wonder if we could get some positive publicity too, it seems highly possible

still with DR on that one, I think it should be out there, its obvious all bar Labour and HMRC think retrospective legislation is unacceptable (oh and the judge who threw out the written representation), unfortunately, they are the ones that count, so far. If people are prepared to defend Fred the Shred's rights, surely we can count on some measure of support. Compared with him we are saints.

            Well Done

Just a note to add my thanks to DR and his tireless work here. It is very easy for "small" people to have no voice given to them without making a disproportionate amount of noise, and DR has been excellent in galvanising everyone to believe they are capable of making enough noise! Well done.. and thanks from me.

              Seconded

              Cheers DR.

I disagree. I am looking forward to him making a total fool of himself.

This was always a long shot but my philosophy is "nothing ventured, nothing gained". I'm on "sabatical" at the moment so I've decided to put my time over the winter to good use.

I don't believe that we should let the Government/HMRC get away with this abuse of power without kicking up a stink. Of course, the Courts are the best place to argue the legalities of it but we should make our voice heard in Parliament.

                      Contribution - but how?

I am the Swiss based guy, feeling a bit powerless over here, as I have no MP to write to - I just want to let you know that I am a part of this momentum in any way I can be. Big thanks to DR
