    Merry Christmas

    Hi,

I've been lurking for some time but thought I'd now chip-in having recieved my CN on.... get this ....Christmas Eve. 3.5 years of backdating - not as bad as some, but enough to bankrupt me.

    Cheers.

6.5 figures actually feel sure you can work that one out :-)

Yes - all sent off to the Holy Isle this morning (despite later finding out that TQ actually resides in a different office).

Hopefully things quieten down in the next few months so we can start getting back to normal (unlikely I know) - I've certainly got a few tax related questions that I know they're too busy to deal with.

This isn't intended as a criticism of either MTM or NW/TQ in particular - they've been doing a great job challenging HMRC and could have easily recommended we settle and walked off with our money as other scheme providers have done over the years...

I'm suprised that MontP haven't yet sent out a letter to all consultants asking them to register for self assessment on the government gateway website, as we all have to file online from now on and it takes a week or so to get a pin number.

Luckily, quite a few of us have already registered as we wanted to view our accounts to see if they had been ammended after the closure notices were sent/appealed.

Hopefully they'll send something out soon anyway.

Got my email from MTM today with tax return to sign and return to them. I think that they do the online submission, that is what the letter says so I don't think that you need to register yourself (although I have for the aforemenioned reasons).

Excerpt from their covering letter: In order to preserve our right to file Tax Returns up to 31 January 2009, we intend to file tax returns by internet and as such it will require us to do things a little differently. If you are happy with the form, please sign it on page 6 and return a copy of that signed page to us at this office. We would prefer you to scan and e-mail the signed page 6...blah blah... This page will be our confirmation that you have approved the Tax Return and we can therefore go ahead and submit it to HMRC on your behalf. Without the signed confirmation, we will not submit the form.

I received an acknowledgement of appeal and it contained some revised Amount payable figures that have confused me somewhat!

                2003-4 55% postponed
                2004-5 81% postponed
                2005-6 58% postponed

Not sure why you said file online? montp do that for us .

Obviously we should register to view the info that HMRC have on us.

I thought we had to file the returns online ourselves - a bit like we had to print it off previously, sign on page 10 then put it in the post.

If that's not the case and MontP will be doing it all for us then I stand corrected.
