My SA account shows nothing 'extra'

Signed up to the Government Gateway (as per a previous post from helen7) to view my SA accounts online. Interestingly enough, there is no mention of any of the 'extra' DTA money HMRC think they can grab (dream on) on any of my years under investigation. helen7 said that hers were, classified 'Collection temporarily suspended'. Mine says I'm actually due a repayment for a couple of grand! . Already tried to claim it, but because I'm 'under investigation' , Mr Jobsworth in my local tax office refused to send me a cheque. Not sure what the legalities are here and can't seem to find specific references on the HMRC site. As far as I am concerned they are keeping money that is legally mine... Haven't made a song and dance about it (yet...)

MP are VERY busy at the mo, so the best way is to check your Self Assesments that you filed for those years - I think it's listed as "foreign income" - assume that 36-38% is what you owe in tax, and then add 7.5% as interest. It's simple interest not compounded (i.e. not interest on interest) so is easy to work out.

If you don't have copies of your SA's you can view them on-line at www.gateway.gov.uk, however I think you'll have to wait for them to post you a PIN number or something once you've registered.

Oh, and welcome to the forum

I am new here and have read most of the forum today with interest.

I have not recieved a CN yet and did get the 'news letter' last week.

Having been around for quite sometime including living thru the JR process when IR35 was brought in. I recall that everyone had an optimistic view in all the PCG forums etc. but the outcome still wasn't good for 'us' and that didn't include a retro part.

I live in hope that this time it will go differently but also live in fear of what the outcome might be. My life has changed in many ways over the last few years which leaves me in the same position as a lot of you folks, in that I simply do not have the cash to pay whatever my bill will be.

I have a house with a mortgage, can 'you know who' take this ?!?!?!? Now I am really scared !!
            Welcome to the thread

I will ask admin to upgrade your account to accept PMs - then I will **try** to get you a response.......

              advice please -

Just received acknowledgement of my appeals for all years involved, however the amount appealed doesnt appear to be the amount I alledgedly owe i.e.

Type of liability = Enquiry amendment 2002-2003
              Tax due = £n
Amount to be postponed = n*89%
              Amount payable = n*11%

They are demanding immediate payment of the 11%

I understood MP were appealing the whole amount, anyone have any idea what this might be.

The 11% figure doesn't ring any bells to me.

Is this just for one year 2002/3? Have the other years been postponed in full?

If so, then it sounds like an error, and I would contact MP immediately.

A plea on behalf of MP

They haven't asked me to do this but I think it needs to be said.

Please, please, please do not contact MP at the moment for non-urgent matters while they are dealing with so many HMRC screw-ups.

Just remember, you could be blocking a call from someone who has got HMRC's goons banging on their front door.

The key word is “if” – however, I quizzed the provider of that loan scheme and was given a convincing reason why it did not have to be disclosed. They also claimed that they had 200 people on their books.

The interesting point is that if there is no SRN and no loan information on the tax return then HMRC has no way to find out about the scheme.

I didn’t go for it because I didn’t like the loan aspect, for the same reasons as all the other loan schemes.
There's an elephant wondering around here...
