In my particular situation this would amount to about 50% of the amount claimed by the extortionists as being due, including interest. This type of offer appears to get less attractive the more you've sheltered through the scheme. Whatever the number or % is its still alot of money that they are not entitled to.

AS MP put it...why give in when the fun is just beginning?

      30%

I definitely wouldn't take it. 30 % is roughly what we will pay if we lose anyway - and yes the interest on top of that - but I would without any doubt rather face an extra £7k (in my case) than give into this ridiculous government and its stooges.

I believe they cannot go back. A lurker was kind enough to fortward me some of the paperwork earlier - looks watertight.

I guess when we win suomotu clients are going to regret having done a deal.....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating a deal. Far from it, I don't see why they should be allowed to get away with using unlawful measures to extort any money from us.

In any case, HMRC are not going to offer us squat until their backs are against the wall.

            Appeals

Someone in this thread said that over 100 closure notices have been received and that MP were appealing. I don't know if enough time has passed yet, but does anyone know what (if any) response there's been to the appeals?

It would be interesting to know as I understood that HMRC would be rejecting appeals against these notices.

And HMRC will be adding a further 5% if we don't pay within 30 days of the notice....and another 5% after 6 months.

              B*stards.

So much for their being no penalties.

eh? can anyone translate this from troll-speak into English?

as said several times - there are NO penalties only interest.

You're right. Once a settlement is agreed it is final (in terms of that income). part of the settlement (physically written and signed by the taxpayer normally) is that an individual acknowledges they have fessed up everything related to the income in question if that's not the case then if you get found out you are ib very deep doo-doo.

I'm not suggesting that anybody in this scheme has concealed anything of course.

This is the first I've heard of this or the 5% helen mentions in the subsequent post. How do you know this? How come noone else does? Who the hell are you people?
