Personally, I think you've got a bloody cheek. It was only a few weeks ago you were sobbing in your soup because no one had responded to your post on Hillary's death. Yet, I did and I remember you thanking me profusely for it at the time.

Now, a few weeks later you are giving me stick by being unacceptably rude.

That just shows what a two faced little tulip you are.

Btw who voted you in a moral guardian of these forums?
This thread is about responses to newbies. Now you've conveniently expanded it to include banter, sharp remarks at rude regulars - like you.

I didn't say anything about not being honest, or even blunt if the poster should know better becuase they've been a contractor for some time. But this post is not about the regulars. I am more than happy to give as good as I get with those who've been around a bit. That's how I've survived on this forum - and no doubt everyone else as well.

That's no excuse for kicking newbies in the teeth just for the gratuitous fun of it.

Frankly, I'm astonished by the pathetic backlash against those that agree with me. The general view of most on this forum is that the government nanny us and treat us like children. Yet, for some reason when someone close to home expects you to be responsible for your own action on here and think for themselves about how they come across to others who haven't done a thing to hurt you, you all whinge and tell me that the moderators must smack us on the hand before anyone behaves properly.

Don't you realise how stupid you all appear?

I can't believe this thread is 24 pages long. Will it grow to tpd proportions?

I would normally agree that your categorisations are correct and that this thread isn't strictly about accountancy or legal matters. But it is about the forum rules we signed up to and what we should expect when we visit the serious forums for answers to queries.

People should expect reasoned answers in a neutral unemotional tone rather than experiencing inflammatory remarks that add no value to the answers given. It's those immature, hostile and silly responses to newbie questions that ensured that this thread got posted on the site most adversely affected by it (well one of them, anyway!). To put it in the 'general' forum would have turned it into a banter thread and suggest there was no serious intent behind it and that I was encouraging more of the same abuse just for a lark. I am not doing that. Clearly it has no place in the light relief thread either or the B/C site.

It is the newbie-phobes who are attempting to turn the legal/accountancy site into a 'general' forum for entertainment at the expense of others who are not seeking to engage in banter for a bit of amusement, and this thread is my attempt to ensure that the L/A sites stay informative and reasoned on topics of importance rather than turning it into a attention seeking 'personality' forum.

I think it is a good thing when contractors attempt to police the behaviour of those they chat to, by persuasion and argument leading to a lively discussion and reasoned debate rather than leaving it to overzealous moderator parent figures who usually just end up annoying everyone by their over- interfering ban happy activities, private agendas, blatant favouritism toward the worst and most abusive posters and irritating political correctness. I've hated those forums most of all because they inevitably end up as sterile wastelands with too much valueless drivel on them. No prizes for guessing which one I am referring to - at least for posting on.
