    tax enquiry insurance

Has anyone got any recommendations for general tax enquiry insurance? not IR35 insurance - just general tax enquiry.
I spoke with QDOS but their focus seems to be focussed around IR35. Thanks.

Hi, ipse include tax investigation cover on their premium membership, which is one of the main reasons I’m a member (standard is just ir35 investigation insurance I think) -

    https://www.ipse.co.uk/become-a-memb...-Investigation

Ive used their helplines a few times, but haven’t used the insurance yet so can’t comment on how good it is I’m afraid.

You think so? Also, one of the two creators of PCG/IPSE was a senior FSB bod. He saw the need for a more focused body...
          Blog? What blog...?

You saying that IPSE lobbying is effective?
            or that FSB also lobby?

There seems to be a difference in the tax enquiry insurance offerings with regard to personal tax enquiry cover ..

IPSE - "Both Standard and Plus memberships protect you and your business from any HMRC tax investigation. This includes Income Tax enquiries, VAT disputes, and of course IR35 investigations." https://www.ipse.co.uk/ipse-news/ips...embership.html

FSB - "If the enquiry starts by looking into your business accounts and then HMRC decide to look at your personal finances, our tax investigations service will cover that."

Both do lobbying else why do they exist? FSB and IPSE are both very good at it, the problem is the Treasury have their heads firmly up their fundament and refuse to allow Chancellors to take any notice of the damage they are doing to us, mainly by ignoring facts and academic research in favour of outdated political theory. FSB also lobby in other areas; their audience is primarily shopkeepers and other small manufacturing businesses (the big boys use the IoD) and there they have successes. So it's easy to say IPSE's lobbying is ineffective, but so are an awful lot of other similar lobby groups.

What we do know is that IPSE have the serious experts on IR35 behind them where the FSB have their own people.

The limitations of lobbying is one thing, their insane policy positions, such as the FLC, another

I wouldn't be surprised if IPSE weren't too much longer of this world.

I suspect FLC has quietly been forgotten.
