Contracting company asked for DOB, NIN and address

Hi. I was asked by the contracting company I have a contract with to provide them my DOB, NIN and address. As they said they "need to submit a Intermediatory report for all our contractors for compliance purposes.".

I work on IT contracts, I have LTD company, and I never had to do that before. I have a contract with them already signed, but that's via my LTD. So I don't understand why to link my private data with this.

Do they really have to do this or it's something fishy here?

I've contracted for over 20 years using LTD company and on every new contract I've had to provide the exact info

To prove your right to work is one thing.
Compliance with client's policy is another.
Oh. And I think they need to tell HMRC about workers they have on their books.

        Thanks for the replies.

I asked them for the link to official docs, and got this https://www.gov.uk/government/public...g-requirements which make sense.

Had to provide this every contract I've ever had. I'm surprised they haven't asked for you passport as well. They are failing in their duties if they haven't I believe.

Passport isn't a mandatory document so on point insisting that people provide them.
To some degree neither is a NINO. But if you have neither good luck getting any work at all.

I don't really know what the law is but there have to be right to work checks and none of what the OP has been asked sufficiently covers that does it?

They would be mandatory for an Opted In gig at the very least as the agency is under the obligation to carry out all checks? That aside I thought it was the same for any work nowadays.

All agencies need you full name, NI, gender, date of birth and address for agency reporting requirements which is required for anything that relates to work.

They also need proof that you are eligible to work in the UK and unless things change in the next couple of weeks from mid May they will need to see the physical document

for UK citizens the easiest document to demonstrate your right to work is your UK passport
merely at clientco for the entertainment
