I hear your pain.
Re your accountant and vat. It’s regrettbale, but the pace of change, in generality, is such that sometimes these things get missed and not thought through.
On the NI credits for your wife, she clearly isn’t working elsewhere, but do you have children at Home? If so, eligibility for Child Benefit, even if it’s not received due to your income, can protect her NI. This needs to be claimed. -
You can end it by leaving and getting another gig in the private sector no?'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

You say your agent took the wrong tax - is it not the case that they give you the rate still but it's incumbent on you to put it through the right calculations?⭐️ Gold Star ContractorComment

Of course it is. It's the reason many of us went contracting, for the flexibility and control over what we do. If you have to hang for dear life to a nightmare gig then you aren't really a very good contractor. If you are good enough you should be able to ditch one gig and get another. It's going to happen at some point in the future as it's what contracting is all about so why not do it now and get out of a bad gig.Originally posted by IAmContractor View PostWhy do people say these things? I appreciate you are only trying to help (I guess), but quitting and moving on isn't usually a desirably option, is it?
Maybe you should have a look at this thread and what can happen to you if you don't take control of your situation.

This was in the Times recently. Even if you're not entitled to child benefit, you must still register for it. Then she will get the NI credits. Many people who earn too much are missing out on this point.Originally posted by Jessica@WhiteFieldTax View PostOn the NI credits for your wife, she clearly isn’t working elsewhere, but do you have children at Home?
