Maybe the OP should post everything. I am sure given a couple of hundred posts the right answer will be there somewhere....Comment

In fact, I advocated the same thing (after getting legal advice) - based on the information given so far, and because I've held management positions. Also, dare I say, I think the range of your experience as a contractor is rather narrower than mine.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostThanks for that. At least the OP knows what NOT to... The entire thread seems to be advocating the same thing.. yet you would be inclined to go in and listen.. par for the course I guess.
You might want to think about that last line again.. Try applying some real world scenarios and some common sense.. Imagine you are the client and someone else turns up with a pin stripe lawyer...what would happen next?Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

IMHO :Originally posted by Andy2 View PostI left a client site and foolishly emailed myself few files just for my records. Now client is claiming that i have done data breach and threatening with civil proceedings. What should i do, please advice
- Agree to delete the files
- Apologise profusely explaining your motives
I'd only speak to a solicitor if that doesn't work.

Wrong. Say the wrong thing to the client and you could find yourself in even hotter water.Originally posted by Boo View PostI'd only speak to a solicitor if that doesn't work.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

data breach
Normally in these instances of alleged data theft you can deal with it my agreeing to the requests in their letter. I assume they have sent you a letter putting you on notice of a claim or a cease and desist type letter. If it is the latter then it will probably just ask you to delete files and any copies / backups and warrant this personally and on behalf of the company.
As others have said, get legal advice and make sure you don't use any of the IP.Comment
