Private Forum

Hi all

So far I have given private forum access to 215 members.

However, there are 80 inactive members who either a) haven't supplied closure notices to CCW or b) have chosen a username that isn't anything like their NTRT username.

There are also members who have submitted the TAA application form but not registered for the private forum (the forum link is on the NTRT members menu).

If anyone thinks they should have access by now, please drop me an email to [email protected] with your name, NTRT login name, private forum login name (if different), date you sent the documents to CCW.

An email should have been generated for anyone granted access, worth checking in case you didn't receive it.

What's this about a deadline for taa?

My financial situation is such that ive been unable, as of yet, to join ntrt or taa.
if I fail to take action today am i excluded? I'm finding it difficult enough to scrape the apn money together (I know I know - can't afford not to join!)
Can any light be shed on the deadlines and exactly how to sign up for ntrt and taa?

feel sorry for you if you cant get the cash together - but arguably then you really really should.. If it were me - id pay £300 less on an APN attract a 15 penalty for that bit, joing ntrt and sign up ... then get the cash together for the next bit .. last then you are in

I cant fault what you say but your on the inside, have seen all the opinions and all the undertones. I've seen whats on this forum and what the emails say. Perhaps I'm lackinf the same confidence as a result

Montpelier had opinions on the original stuff too which looked great and the law changed .... we have no crystal ball

Montpelier did hint at it in the circular they sent after the Huitson FTT hearing.

Look I don't want to knock Montpelier. The fact is they've been dealt a virtually impossible hand. Parliament passed S58 to specifically target the scheme. Montpelier are trying to argue that this law doesn't apply to us.

Anne Redston's opinion (TAA) is that HMRC have taxed the scheme in the wrong way, and S58 is irrelevant.

It is perfectly understandable that Montpelier are against TAA because, if TAA is the correct interpretation, then it means the scheme never properly worked.

There are times when I think I would have been better off just accepting it back in 2008 rather than fighting it but I try not to dwell on that.

Why do I believe TAA is the way for me personally? Because an FTT Judge says it's got a better than 75% chance. No other reason.

I realise I'm on the inside but my decision to go with TAA is purely based on one thing, and one thing only. Anne Redston's opinion. Without that I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

I'm in favour of TAA because of HMRC's documented opinion: that it works for anyone in George's situation.

This is firmly documented on record.

Furthermore, they have acknowledged this was a considered opinion, and never claimed it was any form of mistake or oversight. Quite the contrary in fact - they expressed that a detailed review of George's status meant it worked for his circumstances.

I'm happy that my circumstances appear identical to George's and happy for HMRC to maintain their legal obligation to treat all taxpayers equally.
