APN arrived this morning!

Chaps...I've just had mine arrive this morning. I'll be checking the DOTAS number etc. Much larger sums than I was expecting so there must be a mistake.

I rang to check a) that my letters were recieved and b) whether they were marked as withdrawn and i was just awating paperwork .... so such luck im afriad .... mine apparently still stand.

Interstingly it seems there is not just one APN team... there are a few in different centers !!!

We know of at least three - Glasgow, Solihull and Bristol.

Gauke at Pensions is:

a. an opportunity for some sanity to arrive at HMRC?
b. preparatory to another raid on pensions (remember the pledge not to raise income tax)
c. opening for a Tory hardliner to arrive at HMRC

There is an ugly rumour in my world (stress rumour - no evidence or collaborative sources) that because income tax can't be raised, HMG will find other things to tax. So pensions relief will disappear completely, pension income will be taxed at the same rate that relief was allowed, capital gains tax will equal the IT top rate, damages for breach of contract like PPI etc to be taxed.

CTD use

Hi,
Not sure if anyone has asked this, if you have a CTD for say 30k and 3 years of APNs (that you may need to pay eventually - depending on the submit retract okey kokey tactics of HMRC)
of 10k, 10k and 10k say.

If you get 1 APN for year 1 of 10k can you just use 10k of the 30k CTD or do you have to cash it all in?

Can you leave any unused amount in a CTD for any future years that could be challenged?

Just wondered how it worked.

Also did someone have the number for the tax dept you have to call to get a repayment for more recent years pushed through - I'm now >3k owed back to me and the auto request is not working?
