Yep - I reckon we're ready. Let's not be overconfident yet, as there's a way to go, but good to be on the front foot. Interesting that we were considering abandoning this forum a few weeks ago and it's anything but stale now . . . !

of career climbing apes that can be corrupted by them -offering sweet deals to judges.
Sorry for the negativity - all looking too scary for me now, since I want to continue being freelance, although
been out of work for nearly a year - can't really take the risk! And, after all didn't we follow QC advice
in the first place. Who would have thought the time machine existed, no-one can tell what low
levels the R&C will scoop too.
This is precisely why they came up with the fraud angle!! It is obviously a big decision to strike out on our own and HMRC know that many people are worried by the prospect.

Thing is as I see it there is no way the Huitson argument can win as ultimately the courts have to consider the will of parliament, which after S58 is quite clear. You have to ask the question whether you are more scared of paying up or of (probably baseless) HMRC scare tactics?

            Absolutely.

Remember when we thought the High Court, then the Court of Appeal, then the Supreme Court were going to come to our rescue.

I'm not counting any chickens just yet.

              I take your point.

What would I do? Look to settle as they did with George.

and we have been criticised before for not taking decisive legal action which went against us in the JR. So lets get the wagons rolling!!

The additional Class 4 NIC is just under 5%.

The accrued interest is the real killer though.

                    2001/2 - 64%
                    2002/3 - 57%
                    2003/4 - 51%
                    2004/5 - 44%
                    2005/6 - 37%
                    2006/7 - 30%
                    2007/8 - 22%
